Learning Logs

The Reception teachers are so impressed with all the fantastic work children have been doing in their Learning Logs at home so far.  One of the tasks includes making models of Castles using different materials.  We look forward to seeing what else the children in Reception continue to do each week.

Well Done!!!

A fun filled day at Warwick Castle

Reception classes had a fantastic day today on their visit to Warwick Castle. We enjoyed a birds of prey display with a huge bald eagle gliding very close to our heads while we munched on our sandwiches. We watched in amazement as Europe’s largest Trebuchet fired a ball of stone before our very eyes. We watched the peacocks showing off their tails in the peacock garden and ventured back in time to medieval Warwick where we experienced the smells, sights and sounds of a household uniting and supporting their earl as he prepares for the battle of Barnet in 1471.

All in all a super day! When can we go back?

Easter Egg Hunt

Today in Reception we had an Easter Egg hunt in our outdoor area and the children really enjoyed it.  It was lovely to see them helping each other to find the eggs and everyone was really happy with their prize.

From Reception Year we hope you have a lovely Easter!

Food For Thought

Our topic this term is Food For Thought and we have set the children a challenge to make a yummy but healthy snack for everyone to enjoy.  So far we have had some delicious snacks brought in by the children including Pasta Salad, Carrot Cake, Apple Strudel Muffins and Pizza.

L made pizza for us all in Class 2

A's Apple Strudel Muffin Recipe

We would like to know what you would make if we set you the challenge?

Visitors to Class 2

Class 2 had some special visitors today.  H brought her two hamsters into school and the children really enjoyed playing with them and learning all about them from H.  H told us that the hamsters were named Bubble and Squeak and they were only 9 weeks old.

Pancake fun!

Reception enjoy a trip to pre-school today to join in with their pancake races followed by a glass of juice and a pancake. The teachers were extremely proud of their very well behaved class and much fun was had by all! Well done reception!

Changing states

What happens when you add water to corn flour? This was one of the questions reception investigated this term in our science lessons. Ask your child. Was the mixture a solid or a liquid? Perhaps you might like to try it at home?
